Upper Elbow Trail - Feasibility Study
Kananaskis, Alberta
Project Description
SweetTech was retained by Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) to provide a feasability study of an existing and an alternate bridge crossing location across the Elbow River. The bridge crossing is located along the multi-use Big Elbow Trail and was destroyed in the 2013 flood event.
SweetTech visited the site and coordinated a aerial drone survey of the area to gather current survey data and aerial imagery. Detailed hydrology was assessed and design flows were calculated and two bridge crossing options presented with a recommendation and estimated cost provided. Trail conductivity and alignments were also provided.
