Scott Sutherland, P. Eng.
Background
Scott Sutherland moved to Alberta in 2015 to pursue petroleum engineering but ultimately found his 'home' in civil engineering. He completed the co-op program at the University of Alberta, including an eight-month term with SweetTech that convinced him this was the team he wanted to join. After graduating in 2020, he returned full-time and has been with the company since.
At SweetTech, Scott works across a broad range of projects, including mining, parks developments, municipal work, geotechnical investigations, and supporting legal/forensic-based projects. His areas of focus include geotechnical engineering, water resources engineering, and civil engineering. Since joining SweetTech in 2019, he has been fortunate enough to be involved with nearly every project the company has undertaken.
Scott lives in Calgary with his wife Rachel and their dog Lulu. Outside work, he enjoys photography and numismatics, and he is currently training for his first ultramarathon. Scott and Rachel are expecting their first child in June.
