Scott McKenzie, M.Sc.
Background
Scott McKenzie spent his summers growing up working on his family's farm in rural Manitoba. He pursued zoology at the University of Manitoba, where he earned his bachelor's degree on the Dean's Honour List and later completed his master's degree, with a focus on aquatic science. Over three decades, his career has taken him from aquatic scientist to senior leadership roles directing complex environmental and regulatory projects across the mining, oil sands, oil and gas, and power sectors throughout Canada.
At SweetTech, Scott serves as Senior Project Advisor, working on projects where environmental assessment, regulatory permitting, and stakeholder alignment intersect. He brings experience directing multidisciplinary teams through federal and provincial regulatory processes and working with government agencies, Indigenous groups, and diverse stakeholder interests. His background in aquatic science underpins his approach to navigating the technical and political complexity of large-scale projects.
Scott enjoys time outdoors with his family and their dog Max, staying active through golf, skiing, hockey, and fishing. He is also a motorcycle enthusiast who rides whenever possible, and recently spectated the legendary Isle of Man TT.
