Eric Sweet, M.Eng., P.Eng.
Background
Eric Sweet got the idea to become an engineer while working at a gravel pit and quarry after high school. When engineers in white hard hats would show up and everyone treated them with respect, he asked his foreman what they did. Within a few months, he had decided that was the career he wanted. He earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from UBC, then returned for a master's in hydrotechnical engineering. The work turned out to align perfectly with how he had spent his childhood, playing in a big ditch outside his house, building dams, and watching the flow change with the seasons.
Eric founded SweetTech in 2016 and serves as Principal Engineer, providing leadership and project management across the company's work. He specializes in water resources and civil engineering, particularly in-stream construction projects in environmentally sensitive areas. He is drawn to helping clients achieve their goals while protecting the environment, working alongside a team building something they can all be proud of, and seeing projects move from concept through completion.
Eric lives on the Sunshine Coast with his six kids. Outside work, he rides bikes, swims outdoors, navigates remote backcountry on dirt bikes, and coaches and plays hockey in winter.
