Description
Being located within Evan-Thomas Provincial Recreational Area (PRA), Alberta Forestry and Parks (AFP) is responsible for all infrastructure and capital upgrades related to the world-class Kananaskis Country Golf Course (KCGC). The KCGC is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountain hosting two pristine, 18-hole, championship courses. The KCGC also includes several auxiliary facilities including a club house, administration office, pro shop and golf cart parkade, tournament pavilion, maintenance shop, and staff housing – as well as parking lots, roads, and utilities to support operations. The facility was constructed in 1983 and, since then, multiple upgrades and additional assets and services have been installed. The condition, integrity, and location of these assets are currently unknown.
A multi-disciplinary consultant team, led by groundcubed, was formed to complete a Level 2 Infrastructure Condition Assessment of the KCGC assets. SweetTech's scope included seven (7) elements defined in the AFP Condition and Performance Rating Manual: Roadways and Parking, Water Distributions, Water Transmission, Sanitary Collection, Lift Station, Weirs, and Culverts. SweetTech collaborated with the AFP, groundcubed, and specialized subcontractors to complete a literature review, detailed site inspection, interviews with site operators, and a closed circuit television inspection of sanitary sewer tie-ins. The results were presented using a rating system that integrated the overall asset condition, component conditions, remaining useful life, and recommended capital interventions at a Class D level of cost estimation.
