Griffin Molenaar, C.E.T.
Background
Griffin Molenaar completed SAIT's Engineering Design and Drafting Technology program in 2018. One of his instructors knew SweetTech's design lead and recommended him for an interview. In his first year, Griffin was exposed to a wide variety of projects, including construction, civil earthworks, and hydrotechnical work. He loved the range and type of work SweetTech takes on, and he still does.
At SweetTech, Griffin handles detailed design across civil, water resources, geotechnical, and environmental projects. His work ranges from parking lots and stormwater drainage to flood protection, retaining walls, and construction sequencing. He also manages construction contract administration, tracking quantities and budgets, scheduling, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing project delivery. Griffin enjoys the variety and the challenges that push him to grow, supported by senior staff who encourage the team to step outside their comfort zones.
Griffin loves hiking, cycling, camping, and other outdoor activities across Alberta during summer. In winter, he is one of the few in the office who gets excited when snow starts falling, as he enjoys skiing.
