Description

SweetTech was retained by Alberta Forestry and Parks (AFP) to provide engineering and contract administration services for the crushing, screening, and stockpiling of existing granular material at a Storage Yard.

Following SweetTech’s recent work on multiple AFP projects in the Kananaskis Region, there was an estimated 90,000 tonnes of granular material available to be crushed, screened and stockpiled for use for future AFP projects in the region. Using our geotechnical expertise and extensive experience on AFP projects, SweetTech worked with AFP to determine the types of material that could feasibly be produced given the source material properties, and the quantities of each product to be produced that would provide the most value to AFP. SweetTech’s services provided included contractor procurement, contract administration, survey for quantity reconciliation and quality control aggregate testing throughout construction.

The majority of the material produced and stockpiled at the Storage Yard during this project was used during the 2024 construction season, saving AFP millions in the supply and haul of aggregate to the Kananaskis Region.
