Description
Riverfront Lands, in the Town of Okotoks, was approved for development into a leisure recreation space and re-named Iitopatopa Park. The town contracted George Harris Collaborative Inc. for landscape architecture of the park. SweetTech was retained for engineering support including the geotechnical and hydrotechnical aspects of the work.
Located on the banks of the Sheep River, the proposed Iitopatopa Park was assessed for geotechnical risks related to erosion and bankline mitigation, as well as assessed for flood risks during high-flow events on the river. SweetTech reviewed the site conditions, soil and slope stability, historical flow data and flood risk mapping for the project area. A report was provided to the Town discussing the assessment findings in this area and initial recommendations.
SweetTech, in conjunction with George Harris, developed and provided the Town Issued for Tender (IFT) level drawings including a construction cost estimate.
