Three Sisters Creek Improvements

In June 2013, a significant rainfall event in Southern Alberta occurred over a three-day period that triggered debris floods on a number of creeks in Canmore, AB including the Three Sisters Creek. Estimates indicate that over 40,000 cubic metres of sediment material was transported down Three Sisters Creek and deposited in the pond just upstream of the “AltaLink” pedestrian bridge. 

SweetTech was retained by the Town of Canmore to identify and design additional flood mitigation and protection works for the creek.

SweetTech provided engineering services for river engineering, flood protection, bank stabilization, erosion protection, sediment storage, and culvert, bridge, and road protection measures.
