Shoreline Erosion Protection

Sylvan Lake, Alberta

Project Description

The Marina Bay Home Owners Association retained the team of SweetTech with Applied Aquatic Research to perform an assessment and recommendations on the existing shoreline erosion protection measures in Marina Bay. A desktop analysis took place, supported by a field visit to the Bay. Historical climatology (wind, precipitation, temperature) and lake levels were analyzed. Wave generating potential of the Bay was calculated based using the collected data. An assessment and armouring recommendations were provided to the client. As an added value, a conceptual engineering solution was provided to mitigate existing sedimentation and circulation issues using existing infrastructure.
